Stump Removal Long Island
Fast, clean stump grinding that leaves your yard ready to replant or reseed. We grind to below grade — no trace left behind.
No stump left behind
A leftover stump isn't just an eyesore — it attracts termites, carpenter ants, and fungal growth. It's a tripping hazard. And it makes mowing a pain. Grinding it out takes less than an hour and solves all three problems at once.
We grind stumps to 6–12 inches below grade, then rake the chips clean. The remaining void fills in naturally as the roots decay. In most cases, you can replant grass or a new tree within a few weeks.
Single-stump jobs
No job is too small. We grind one stump as efficiently as a full day's work. Call for a quick quote.
Multi-stump batches
Have several stumps from a prior removal project? Batch them in one visit and save on mobilization.
Large-diameter stumps
Our equipment handles stumps from small ornamentals up to 48-inch-diameter hardwood trunks.
Tight-access grinding
We work near foundations, fences, pools, and landscaping. Confined spaces are our specialty.
Root flare grinding
Surface roots and root flares can be ground down flush with the lawn for a clean finish.
Chip haul-away or mulch
We haul the chips if you want a clean yard, or leave them as mulch for garden beds — your call.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between stump grinding and stump removal?+
Stump grinding uses a machine to chew the stump into wood chips 6–12 inches below grade — fast, clean, and leaves the roots in place to decay naturally. Full stump removal extracts the entire root system and is much more disruptive. For most residential jobs, grinding is the right call. We can advise based on your situation.
How long does stump grinding take?+
Most single stumps take 30–90 minutes depending on size and wood hardness. We can typically grind multiple stumps in a single visit. If you have several stumps from a prior removal job, batch them together for the best value.
What happens to the wood chips?+
Grinding produces a pile of wood chips that can be used as mulch, or we can haul everything away. The choice is yours. Many homeowners use the chips for garden beds — it's good organic material.
Can you grind a stump near my foundation or fence?+
Yes. Our stump grinder is maneuverable in tight spaces. We regularly work near foundations, fences, driveways, and landscaping. We'll assess access during the estimate.
