Jim Caruso started Long Island Tree Pros in 2009 after 8 years working for other tree services across Nassau and Suffolk County. He'd spent nearly a decade watching the industry cut corners — subcontracting jobs, skipping ISA certification, leaving yards trashed, and padding invoices. He knew he could do it differently.
The first year it was Jim, one helper, and a rented chipper. He was on-site for every job because there was no crew to delegate to. That year built the habits that define every job today: assess before you cut, rig before you drop, and clean up completely before you leave. The punchline we use — “We clean up the mess. No exceptions. No extra charge.” — wasn't a marketing decision. It was a reaction to seeing how many jobs ended with debris left behind.
Seventeen years later, Long Island Tree Pros has completed over 5,200 jobs across Nassau and Suffolk County. Jim is still ISA-certified (#NE-7234) and still assesses every significant job in person. The crew is 11 people. The chipper is bigger. But the habits are the same.
